Bishop Zoltán Balog of the Danubian Church District, the Ministerial President of the Synod, and Bishop Károly Fekete of the Transtibiscan Church District represented the Reformed Church in Hungary at the ecumenical symposium held in Pannonhalma, Hungary under the title "Seek Peace and Follow It!" In addition to the conference, the representatives of denominations prayed together for peace and for each other in the daily liturgical celebrations of the monastic community.

Bike Breakfast in Front of the Church on Kálvin Square

The Institute for Conservation Research of the Károli Gáspár Reformed University joined the Hungarian Cyclists' Club's initiative to promote urban cycling, the Bike Breakfast. Volunteers served breakfast to cyclists passing by the church on Kálvin Square, including many students from Károli.

Let there be peace! - Statement of the Reformed Church in Hungary

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem." Let there be an end to violence in the Holy Land! The Reformed Church in Hungary joins the call of the World Council of Churches. The deepening and possible expansion of the conflict between armed groups must be prevented. We think with fear of those living in the Holy Land, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, who are facing extraordinary trials. Yet this place should be a message of faith, hope, and love for all.

Standing Together in Faith

On September 2nd, the Reformed community in Hungary supported two gatherings to bring awareness and affirm its support for the Christian community facing persecution in Pakistan. A gathering hosted by the Érdliget Reformed Parish included powerful testimonies, and another, a prayer group hosted at the community center for the Refugee Ministry, honored the victims of the persecution.

The Hungarian Reformed Church Aid Helps in Morocco

The Hungarian Reformed Chuch Aid (HRCA) delivers humanitarian aid to the earthquake victims in Morocco. The first delegation of the organisation flew to Marrakesh on September 10th to support the families with durable food and hygiene products, and to plan further assistance by assessing local needs. The HRCA is also launching a fundraising campaign to support the mission in Morocco.

Reformed Church of Transcarpathia Collects for Syrian Sister Churches

On February 6th, 2023, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck regions of southern Turkey and northern Syria. In response to the crisis in Syria, the Reformed Church of Transcarpathia (RCT) raised a tremendous aid package of 30,000 Euros to support the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL) in its efforts to respond to this crisis.

Three thousand prisoners of Roma origin were executed at the Auschwitz Gypsy camp on the 2 of August 1944. On this day, the Roma of Europe commemorate the Holocaust, the porajmos as they call it, or in the Lovari dialect, the pharrajimos, the destruction.

The Common Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church

The Common Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church met on the 13-14th July, 2023. During the two-day meeting, members of the Synod voted on the constitutional amendment and adopted the Hungarian Reformed National Strategy for the Carpathian Basin and the closing statement of the Synod.

A record number of participants in the network meeting of the Reformed Inclusive Primary Schools

Since 2017, HEKS (the Swiss Church Aid) has supported efforts to make elementary schools maintained by the Hungarian Reformed Church more inclusive. Today, more than a dozen institutions carry out development aimed at inclusion, and their spring network meeting was hosted by the headquarters of the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid (HRCA). More than fifty employees from eleven schools participated in the all-day workshop on May 22.
