Easter Message of the Hungarian Reformed Church for all its congregations and partners
"The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.’” (Mt 28:5-6a)

Dear Brothers and Sisters!
At Easter, the heavenly life force precedes everything and everyone. We need this because the forces of death are constantly and spectacularly showing themselves, inspiring fear and reminding us of human fragility. The forces of death include obstruction, blockage, confinement, oppressive and destructive power, and the shackles of our powerlessness. Yet, death cannot have the last word. At the dawn of Easter, God mobilized the power of life, the heavenly energies of resurrection, which triumphed over the diabolical powers of death. The resurrection of Christ made the power of God manifest and made all human might relative. Death has been dethroned! With the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has removed the sting of death. That is why life has a chance today. If we are determined by the heavenly powers of Easter faith and renewal, the will to live and the good will to do the right thing will triumph.
In times of meaningless suffering and death, we must bear witness to life, to the victory of Christ. In the midst of conflict and discord, we must lead by example in fraternal love when engaged in dialogue shaped by the gospel. In a deceiving and misleading world, what we really need is the truth of Christ and discipleship. It is with this hope that we look forward to the Unity Day of the Hungarian Reformed Church on 24th May 2025 and look forward to welcoming all members of our community to come together and glorify our living Lord in the city of Debrecen.
With the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God made life triumph, so we believe in the victory of life.
May God grant that the whole community of the Hungarian Reformed Church, joining Christians around the world, may always live and proclaim the Easter hope: following in the footsteps of the Risen Christ, it may alleviate human suffering, in Christian fellowship and solidarity with those in need.
We wish you a blessed Easter celebration in all our congregations, throughout the Carpathian Basin and worldwide!
“Christ is the future, we follow Him together!”
