Let there be peace! - Statement of the Reformed Church in Hungary

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels. For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, Peace be within you. For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity." (Psalm 122:6-9)

Let there be an end to violence in the Holy Land! The Reformed Church in Hungary joins the call of the World Council of Churches. The deepening and possible expansion of the conflict between armed groups must be prevented. We think with fear of those living in the Holy Land, especially our Christian brothers and sisters, who are facing extraordinary trials. Yet this place should be a message of faith, hope, and love for all.

Joining with the Christian leaders of Jerusalem, we raise our voices and call for an end to all violent and military activities that are causing extreme harm to both Israeli and Palestinian civilians.

We ask all Hungarian people to pray for a just peace! Let us pray that the Almighty would give comfort to the suffering, strength to the weary, and wisdom to the leaders of the nations!

We ask the political leaders and authorities to engage in sincere dialogue in search of lasting solutions for justice, peace, and reconciliation in the war-torn regions of the world, the Holy Land, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Ukraine. These lands have borne the burden of human confrontation for too long.
