László Harangozó is the New Bishop of the Reformed Christian Church in Serbia

The Synod of the Reformed Christian Church in Serbia held its meeting in Bácsfeketehegy (Feketic) on 31 May, where the results of the national election held in the spring were confirmed and the newly elected officials took their oaths in a festive ceremony.

Péter Szenn, Bishop of the Reformed Christian Calvinist Church in Croatia, as a delegate of the General Convent conducted the preaching service, and Csaba Sógor, Senior Adviser for Foreign Affairs from the Synod Office of the Reformed Church in Hungary, participated in the meeting.

László Harangozó, pastor of the congregation in Szabadka (Subotica), was elected bishop for the next six-year term. His predecessor, Béla Halász, held the post since 2013. Károly Székely remains as the lay president, and Erzsébet Csányi, pastor of Pacsér (Pacir), was re-elected as deputy bishop. The post of dean of the Presbytery of Bácska could not be filled for the time being, and Károly Pál was elected as the lay president of the Presbytery of Bácska. Mária Beszédes, pastor of Torontálvásárhely (Debeljaca), was elected dean of the Presbytery of Bánát, and Sándor Juhász was re-elected as the lay president of the presbytery. Dénes István Szilágyi from Verbász (Vrbas) was elected as the mission coordinator and Dániel Halász from Maradék (Maradik) as the diaconal coordinator. Additionally, Edit Mókus, treasurer, Hajnalka Klebecskó Makai, auditor, and Zoltán Berkes, legal advisor, were elected for another term.

László Harangozó was born in 1977, and studied theology in Cluj-Napoca. For ten years, he served under Bishop István Csete Szemesi in Bácsfeketehegy, where he was also the director of the Reformed Central Home. In 2013, Harangozó moved to Verbász, and since February 2017, he has been the pastor of the Reformed Parish of Subotica. In 2010, he was elected diaconal coordinator, and in the last term he was mission coordinator.
