Bethesda Children’s Hospital Offers Help to Refugees

Medical Doctors of the Bethesda Children’s Hospital of RCH are waiting for Refugees arriving from Ukraine at the Nyugati railway station in Budapest, and soon volunteer doctors will also travel to Záhony, a city near the border. The hospital is going to also deliver medicine and medical supplies to those stranded on the other side of the border.

"We have been working all weekend to establish effective ways and channels to offer medical support for Hungarians in Transcarpathia (Ukraine), for Ukrainian refugees in Hungary and all those directly affected by the current crisis," announced the Hospital maintained by RCH.

As referred to in its social media post, Bethesda has been in close cooperation with many health care institutions in Transcarpathia, the Western region of Ukraine, for years, and through the many personal connections they have a first-hand experience of the suffering of the people due to the lack of care. "Unfortunately, they virtually ran out of medicines, therefore the Bethesda Hospital Foundation, to address the shortage, allocated 1 million HUF for the medical care and medicines of refugees and those who have stayed in their homeland. We take care of the transportation and distribution. Thanks to the cooperation with the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid (HRCA) we can reach out in an effective way to institutions and families and help them with medical supply, medicines and treatment provided by medical doctors who work on a voluntary basis.”

Residents of the Hospital are volunteering at the Nyugati Railway Station supporting the HRCA in welcoming refugees and offering medical help. Doctors will also be arriving in Záhony in the coming days. They will go to the places where they are most needed, on the request of HRCA coordinating the joint effort.
